PROS: Wood-burning pizza oven Hand-rolled pizza dough Meaty Pasta Bolognese sauce
CONS: UFC Ketsup for the fried chicken wings (I hate Banana Ketsup) Too much bread crumbs on chicken wings Additional salt (which I did for the first time ever) on the Pasta Bolognese Not-hot hot sauce Not a slightest hint of basil on the Pizza Margherita Had to go somewhere else for dessert (was apprehensive to try out what they were offering) Cash register did not have enough change
History (and family trees) caught my interest since I was little. Events and people of yesteryear and how they affect the present never ceases to amaze me. This TV series from the US has not reached local cable yet. And to my surprise, the suking dibidi outlet in Divisoria (piracy rocks!) has it!
As the title would have it, it is about the Tudor dynasty of England which focuses on the reign of Henry VIII. And as Hollywood would have it, they made several points in the series "fictionalized". That's my term for historical inaccuracy. For instance, they made it look like Henry VIII and Catherine of Aragon's having a May-December love affair when in fact she is only 6 years older than him. I would not point out everything for brevity's sake.
Season 1 is made up of 10 1-hour episodes, it has a mini-series vibe into it. The locations were amazing, although the CGI composites are very noticable. Language used is a mix of traditional English and American slang (mainly profanity), although I find it odd that the main characters have different English accents. They made their selling point in casting very good looking actors. I never realized that the pudgy (ok... fat) Henry VIII would be incarnated by Jonathan Rhys Meyers. (I have a new celeb-crush in Henry Cavill who plays Charles Brandon and the actor who plays King Francis of France! *kilig*)
My final word on this - 13th century England is not that different from today. They only have more layers of clothing and no electricity! Same issues are present; war (kings are such little boys), sex (name it, the show has it), drugs, infidelity, and dysfunctional families.
Oh, before I forget just a few reminders: it is R-18ish and turn the volume up.

I purposely snatched this book right out my friend's nightstand because I was so excited to grab a hold of the book after watching the DVD about it.
It opened me into a new way of thinking. And is certainly making wonders in my life right now. This book is the bomb! :)
What is it all about? One thing: The Law of Attraction.
I would stop myself right here 'coz I might give away too much information. Hehe! I suggest you go ahead to www.thesecret.tv to find out for yourself.

This is the second of three books that I was reading simultaneously. Unbelievably, that's a record for me! And again I took it out of my kumare's bookshelf before she got a chance to read it. (Book-snatching...hehehe)
The title is interesting enough for me to read. My first impression that it would be a novel, but I was wrong. It is actually a collection of personal anecdotes of the author. Some are funny, some are heart-warming, while some would make you say, "What?"
It was supposed to be a quick-read, but giving away the basic point of the entire book at page 20-something did not do the book justice. Well, that's just my opinion.
Overall, I think that my lolo (if I had the chance to meet both of them) would have stories far more interesting than that of the author's hence the pasang-awa rating.
I'm an ice cream person. I still can't believe that I survived without it for 2 months in my quest for being health-conscious and that jazz. Pero hindi kinaya ng powers ko, ice cream is an integral part of my diet! Hahaha! In recent years, I have become a fan of Arce Dairy's ice cream, and I never thought this day would come. The day that I would be disappointed. Seryoso, nalungkot ako sa caramel flavor nila. It tasted too sweet bordering on bitter. Parang sunog ang caramel. Sad.
